August, 2004
This month has easily
been one of the most hectic, yet rewarding months of the year. Here
are some updates:
FMS - WHQ:
First and foremost, I am so happy and proud to announce the
results of the 27th Black Sash promotional examination. The test
was conducted at the Hollister FMS academy, as has become custom,
with the ceremony here at World Head Quarters in San Francisco.
Let me just say that it was an awesome display of power, beauty,
grace, indomitable spirit, and much more. The results are in and
CONGRATULATIONS go to: Inst. Stuart McCalla and Inst. Joseph Gumina
who received their 1st Dan. Inst. John Stenson, Inst. Kim Leith
and Inst. Chris Dudzik received their 2nd Dan. Inst. Patrick Schleeter
and Inst. Terry King recieved thier 3rd Dan. WOW, super job. We
also had a special extra test for Inst. Schleeter, who also received
his much awaited 5th Dan in Farang Hapkido, thereby achieving his
Master title. BIG congratulations Sir!!! Well done, and much deserved.
We are all very proud of you. And now, we have one final Black Sash

Puerto Rico: Master Vega and Inst. Delgado are very busy
coordinating events for our upcoming visit to PR next month. They
have a special black belt work out planned as well as a large open
seminar. Inst. John Stenson is confirmed to accompany me on this
trip. This marks my third visit to PR and Inst. Stenson has been
with me on all of them. I think we have a tradition developing.
So, once again, the main seminar on Saturday, the 11th of September
at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. For more information
contact Master Vega at: (787) 347-0485. Master Vega recently sent
me more pictures of his black belts taking first place and grand
champion at the recent tournament in NJ. Congratulations again!
We are all very proud of you.

FMS Hollister:
Aside from testing for black belt degrees, Master Schleeter has
been very busy working on their first martial arts tournament. It
is called the Faultline Warrior Classic, and will be held
at San Benito High School in Hollister on Saturday, November 20th,
2004. The divisions for competition will mirror the ones from Warrior
Quest, so that should be lots of fun. We will be able to compete
in Forms, Weapon Forms, Self Defense, Stand Up Sparring, FMS Grappling,
Sport Jujitsu, and of course Middle Stick and Knife sparring. Wow,
I can hardly wait! So, let's all make plans to be there and support
this awesome event.
FMS
Huntington Beach: I just received the results, pictures
and video of color belt testing that took place on Aug. 21, 2004.
Wow, great job everyone. We are also happy to see two more students
reach the Dan Bo Rank (Candidate Black Belt). They are: Dylan Hamilton
and Mark Loper. Awesome! Mathew Wagner is right behind them as he
reached his Red Belt as well. If they keep this up, we'll be having
3 new candidates ready for the Black Belt test next year. I'm sure
that Inst. Saindon as well as Inst. Miller and Inst. Van Doren are
very proud of you. Congratulations, and keep up the good work.

News: And once again, last but not least, FMS Chicago: Inst.
Talbott and his two sons are preparing to compete in the 40th Annual
AKA Grand Nationals and WSKF World Finals. Wow, that should be awesome.
We are with you Sir. I was also informed that Inst. Talbott will
be having some more surgery on his knee. Ouch....I hope it all turns
out well, and that you have a speedy recovery. FARANG!!!
That's all for now, With
brotherhood,
